A short Tour to our "Other Home"

We have lived in many places and thought we should share some of our experiences, or impressions, with our friends.
Let us start with our "other" home,Germany.., the city of ....Darmstadt.... actually.
We have spent a lot of time in and around ....Darmstadt...., working, living, having fun. This city is filled with old, just about antic places as well as new modern places and lots of room to enjoy nature.
The heart of the town is a very busy place, shops, cafes, restaurants, fast food places, offices, stores and monuments and, the Market Place, right across from the castle.
Yes, ..Darmstadt.. has it's very own castle and is surrounded by parks, schools and the ....Technical.. ..University.....
In July for a whole week half of the town is cluttered with the Fair, called the Heinerfest. It stretches across town for miles and miles, fun rides for all ages, stands to buy all sorts of things, pictures, paintings, toys, cloths, pottery, curtains and, of course, food.
Right before Christmas, from late November until Christmas Eve, the Christmas Market is held, right outside the castle, across the market place. A wonderful place to hang out and warm up with spiced, hot wine.
In the streets, close to the stores and restaurants you find young musicians playing for change, artists painting on the concrete or pantomimic performances.
....Darmstadt...., like most German cities, is filled with people from all over, a very diverse place, bubbling with fashions and languages from all over the world.
....Darmstadt.... used to host several Posts for US Military Forces. During the Draw Down even the last remaining post was closed down this year and the remaining soldiers and civilians were migrating toward ..Wiesbaden.., ..Mannheim.., ....Heidelberg.... and Ramstein
